Homan Square Community Center Park in North Lawndale is set to receive $600,000 in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) support, following a proposal submitted to the City Council by Mayor Brandon Johnson. The proposed funding aims to cover the full cost of planned improvements at the park, located at 3517 W. Arthington St.

According to the announcement, the Chicago Park District intends to use the funds for upgrading the playground and adding new features such as an outdoor fitness circuit and a walking path. The TIF assistance would be drawn from the Homan/Arthington TIF district.

If approved, these enhancements are expected to provide new recreational opportunities for residents in North Lawndale.

Mayor Johnson stated that this investment is intended to support community health and well-being through improved public spaces.

The proposal will go before City Council for consideration.
