A total of 486 city-owned properties will be made available for private purchase beginning October 1, according to an announcement by Department of Planning and Development (DPD) Commissioner Ciere Boatright. The properties include two former fire stations in Woodlawn and Rogers Park, transit-oriented development sites in Englewood, and multiple "Missing Middle" infill housing opportunities on the West Side.

"Each of these locations represent a choice opportunity to invest and contribute to neighborhood growth, re-population and community-wealth building," Boatright said.

Of the available parcels, approximately 440 will be offered individually. The rest are accessible through DPD Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Interested parties can find detailed property information, application links, and RFP program guides on the City’s land sale portal at ChiBlockBuilder.com.

Applications for Missing Middle and individual parcel purchases must be submitted by midnight on November 17, 2025. RFP responses are due by midnight on January 5, 2026. Additional details can be found at ChiBlockBuilder.com, Chicago.gov/RFPs and Chicago.gov/MissingMiddle.
