Chicago Fire FC will conclude the home portion of its 2025 regular season with a match against Toronto FC on Saturday, October 4, at Soldier Field. The team secured a spot in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs after defeating Inter Miami CF 5-3 earlier this week. Five different players scored for Chicago in that game, marking the club's ninth road victory this season—a new record for the organization. Homegrown defender Justin Reynolds delivered the game-winning goal.
This playoff berth marks Chicago’s 14th postseason appearance since its inaugural year in 1998 and is its first since 2017. Toronto FC, already eliminated from playoff contention, will face Chicago for the second time this season; they previously lost to Chicago 2-1 at BMO Field in March.
In their most recent outing, Toronto drew with Inter Miami CF at home after midfielder Djordje Mihailović equalized early in the second half. This result was Toronto’s seventh consecutive draw—six of which ended with a scoreline of 1-1.
Saturday’s match will also serve as Fan Appreciation Night for Fire supporters. The team emphasized that despite having clinched a playoff spot and facing an opponent out of postseason contention, it intends to maintain focus due to ongoing playoff seeding implications.
The Fire have scored 64 goals across their first 32 games this season—three short of their club record set in 2000—and are close to breaking additional scoring records before the regular season ends.
Forward Hugo Cuypers’ latest goal brought his total to 17 for the current campaign and moved him into sixth place on Chicago’s all-time scorers list. If he scores five more goals over the final two matches, he will tie Josh Wolff for fifth place.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be available globally via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV as well as locally through wlsam.com (English) and Que Buena Fire via Uforia App (Spanish).
