Chicago Fire FC II forward Jason Shokalook has been named MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month for September 2025, following a strong finish to the regular season. Shokalook scored eight goals in the final four matches, helping him secure the league’s Golden Boot with a total of 20 goals for the year.

“I’m super grateful to the team and the coaching staff for being there for me and pushing me and am definitely grateful to receive this award,” said Shokalook. “Throughout the year, I’ve been trying to improve a little bit every day and am grateful that effort has built up into receiving the last monthly award of the regular season. Hopefully it gives the team some positive momentum going into the playoffs, which is our main focus.”

The 22-year-old forward scored six goals in three matches during September and added two more in the season finale against Columbus Crew 2 on October 5. Chicago Fire FC II ended the season with 69 goals, just one short of the league record set by Colorado Rapids 2 in 2023.

This marks Shokalook’s second league honor of the season. He was previously recognized as MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 20 after scoring four goals and providing an assist in a 9-2 win over New York Red Bulls II. That match set team records for both total goals and margin of victory, and its combined 11 goals were the most ever in an MLS NEXT Pro match.

Shokalook joined Chicago Fire II in February 2024 after being selected 35th overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. He played college soccer at the University of Akron, where he was named 2023 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, scoring 14 goals and recording five assists in his final season. Over his four-year college career, he made 59 appearances, scored 26 goals, and had 17 assists.

Chicago Fire FC II will begin their third consecutive postseason appearance with a playoff match against New England Revolution II in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on October 19. The match will start at 5 p.m. at Gillette Stadium and will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
