Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met Sept. 10

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Dan Jarocki called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Deputy Village Clerk Heather Riley took a Roll Call:

Others Present: Village Administrator Jim Claeyssen and Deputy Village Clerk Heather Riley.

ADOPT THE AGENDA:

Dina Brandt moved to adopt the agenda. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES:

Dan Jarocki moved to approve the minutes from the June 25, 2025 Meeting. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: No Report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. National Night Out Recap – (Event Chair is Deputy Chief Jesse Pearse) - This item has been tabled until October’s meeting when Deputy Chief Pearse will be present.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Scarecrow on Parade – “Wild about reading”– Sue Smetana and Dina Brandt volunteered to decorate the scarecrow with the theme “Where the Wild Things Are”. Sue will pick up the scarecrow from the library will reach out if she has any issues. Dina and Sue will get together to have the scarecrow up before the October meeting.

2. Youth Fall Fishing – Mike Mungor will run the Youth Fall Fishing Tournament on Saturday September 20th from 10:00AM – Noon. Dina Brandt moved to request up to $300.00 for the Fall Fishing Tournament. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

3. Halloween Decoration Contest – Dina Brandt moved to request up to $125.00 for the Halloween Decoration Contest. Dan Jarocki seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote. Judy Prisby stated that she would pick up the five (5) Menards gift cards for the winners.

4. Halloween Trunk or Treat/Parade – Dina Brandt moved to request up to $1000.00 for the Halloween event. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote. Public Works will provide and set up the barricades along E. State Street. Judy Prisby will pick up the (15) $5.00 gift cards from DQ for the costume contest winners. Heather Riley will order all candy from Sam’s club and the Rec Board members can come the Friday before the event to sort out the candy. 

5. Santa Event Venue – Village Administrator Jim Claeyssen will contact The Bricks Venue Center to confirm availability on November 30th for the Village’s Annual Santa Event. Dan Jarocki has agreed to be Santa again this year. Heather Riley will check with Sam’s Club about purchasing an assortment of decorated sugar cookies. Judy will reach out to Cattle and Cream to arrange for milk and ice cream. Jim Claeyssen will also provide bottled water for the event.

ADJOURNMENT: Dina Brandt moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:36 PM. Judy Prisby seconded.
