The Chicago Fire FC will conclude their 2025 Major League Soccer regular season with an away match against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on October 18. The Fire, having secured a playoff berth with a 5-3 victory over Inter Miami CF on September 30, recently played to a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC at Soldier Field on October 4.

Jack Elliott, playing center back for the Fire, scored his first two goals for the club in the match against Toronto, both assisted by Philip Zinckernagel. Zinckernagel’s performance helped him set new club records for assists (15) and total goal contributions (29) in a single season. Chicago is currently positioned eighth in the standings and can move up with a win against New England. A finish of seventh place or higher would guarantee participation in a Best-of-Three opening playoff series against a higher seed and provide an opportunity to host a playoff match.

The New England Revolution are out of playoff contention after their 4-1 defeat to Inter Miami CF in their last away game. Forward Dor Turgeman has scored two goals in his first two MLS appearances for New England. Lionel Messi contributed three assists in that match, helping Miami secure their 17th win of the season.

This match will be the third meeting between Chicago and New England in 2025. Earlier this year, Chicago defeated New England 3-1 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 and 3-2 in their first MLS meeting of the season at SeatGeek Stadium. Chicago now leads the all-time series with 28 wins, 25 losses, and 21 draws in 74 matches, making New England their second-most frequent opponent after Columbus.

Key players and statistics ahead of Saturday’s match include Philip Zinckernagel, who is tied with Cincinnati’s Evander for second-most goal contributions on the road this season with 17. He is also one goal away from recording the first 15-goal and 15-assist season in club history and could become the second player on the team to score at least 15 goals this season, behind Hugo Cuypers’ total of 17. The team has scored 66 goals this season, one short of matching their record set in 2000.

Left back Andrew Gutman could become only the fourth player in Fire history to start every match in a 34-game regular season if he is included in Saturday’s lineup. Gutman has set personal records this year for minutes played, matches played, and assists.

Saturday’s match marks the 75th regular season meeting between Chicago and New England. In total, Chicago leads with 109 goals to New England’s 102. The teams have also met in 15 postseason matches across eight series, each winning four series.

The game will be broadcast globally via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and locally on WLS 890 AM (English) and Que Buena Fire via the Uforia App (Spanish).
