A vacant property in Bronzeville is set for redevelopment following a City Council decision to approve the sale of land at 452-56 E. 47th St. and 4640-52 S. Vincennes Ave. The .52-acre site will be sold to Revere Properties Development LLC, which plans to build a five-story mixed-use building valued at $21.5 million.
The new development will include live/work spaces for artists, a restaurant, cocktail bar, and a 42-seat screening room on the ground floor. A performance space with seating for 190 people will occupy the second floor, while each upper level will have four apartments. The project also includes a public plaza along the sidewalk and on-site parking for 15 vehicles.
The City acquired the five lots making up the site between 1989 and 2012, with a collective appraised value of $511,593. These lots are being sold to the developer for $1 each.
According to officials, "Expected to create about 40 permanent, full- and part-time jobs when complete, the project was awarded a $5 million Community Development Grant by Mayor Johnson in 2024."
