Same old, same old seen coming from Madigan, Pritzker

Chicago(1000)

House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) and Democratic gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker are parroting each other again, this time in reference to budget negotiations, the Illinois Republican Party contended in a recent press release.

Illinois GOP spokesperson Steven Yaffe pointed to similar critiques by the Democrats of Republican lawmakers' efforts to reform some of Illinois current systems.

Madigan dubbed a Republican effort to put property tax relief in place an “extreme right-wing agenda," while Pritzker, the billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune, has called reforms, including term limits, fair redistricting and property tax relief, a “right-wing Koch brother agenda,” Yaffe said in the statement.

“Here’s a question for Madigan, Pritzker, and the other candidates for governor who oppose reform – what about helping the middle class is extreme?" Yaffe said. "What about an honest political system that works for the people, not the politicians, is extreme? Democrats need to stop the liberal dog whistles and provide real solutions for Illinois. A massive tax increase with no reform just won’t cut it.”
