Cost of college went up for all students at Cortiva Institute-Chicago

Tuition and fees rose 20.5 percent for 2017-18 at Cortiva Institute-Chicago, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $13,475 to attend the private for-profit school this year $2,294 more than the $11,181 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 38 students received grants or scholarships totaling $150,006 and 47 students took out student loans totaling more than $388,941.

Including all undergraduates, 394 students used grants or scholarships totaling $674,865. Another 498 took out $1.06 million in federal student loans.
