Commission on Chicago Landmarks met June 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Chairman Leon called the meeting to order.

1. Approval of the Minutes of Previous Meeting

Regular Meeting of May 3, 2018

Motioned by Houlihan, seconded by Moreno. Approved unanimously (9-0).

2. Preliminary Landmark Recommendation

West Side Ymca/Ywca Complex - Ward 28

1513-1539 West Monroe Street and 101-109 South Ashland Avenue

Cindy Roubik presented the landmark recommendation report. Motion to adopt the preliminary landmark recommendation for West Side YMCA/YWCA Complex.

Motioned by Wong, seconded by Houlihan. Approved unanimously (9-0).

Lisa Misher, Department of Law, Real Estate Division, joined the meeting

3. Report from the Department of Planning and Development

St. Peter’s Church And Parish House 615-623 West Belmont Avenue - Ward 44

Cindy Roubik presented the report. Vote to accept the DPD report and take the next step in the designation process for St. Peter’s Church and Parish House to request consent from the   property owners.

Motioned by Smith, seconded by Toliver. Approved unanimously (9-0).

4. Class L Property Tax Incentive – Final Certification

Commercial National Bank Building 125 South Clark Street - Ward 42

Dijana Cuvalo presented the report. Vote to approve the resolution that the project has been substantially completed in accordance with the approved ordinance and meets the eligibility requirements for the Class L incentive for the Commercial National Bank Building.

Motioned by Toliver, seconded by Smith. Approved unanimously (9-0).

5. Permit Review Committee Reports

Report on Projects Reviewed at the May 3, 2018, Permit Review Committee Meeting

Commissioner Wong presented the report from the Permit Review Committee meeting of May 3, 2018 (see attached).

Wood Siding Repair And Replacement Policy

Commissioner Wong presented the proposed policy. Vote to adopt the Wood Siding Repair and Replacement Policy.

Motioned by Moreno, seconded by Dziekiewicz. Approved unanimously (9-0).

Report on Permit Decisions by the Commission Staff for the Month of May 2018

Lawrence Shure presented the staff report for the month of May 2018 (see attached).

6. Program Committee Report

Recommendations to the Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council on nominations to the

National Register of Historic Places:

South Side Community Art Center - Ward 3

3841 South Michigan Avenue

West Pullman Elementary School - Ward 34

11941 South Parnell Avenue

Commissioner Tolliver presented the report. Vote to approve recommendations to the

Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council on nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.

Motioned by Smith, seconded by Wong. Approved unanimously (9-0).

7. Adjournment

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:52 p.m.
