University of Chicago No. 10 in state for revenue per wrestler

University of Chicago wrestling brought in $6,121 per athlete in revenue in 2016, the 10th highest level for wrestling programs in Illinois that year, according to a Chicago City Wire analysis of U.S. Department of Education data.

The university’s wrestling program brought in a total of $171,399 in 2016. 

The agency's office of postsecondary education collects athletics data annually from all institutions with intercollegiate athletics programs that receive funding through federal financial aid programs. Data for 2016 – the latest year available – includes more than 2,000 schools nationwide.

Illinois' 15 schools with wrestling programs reported $3,478,792  in revenue in 2016.
