Report: Chicago spent $15,412 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Chicago SD 299 School District is up 11.8 percent from five years ago, according to a Chicago City Wire analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Cook County school district spent $13,791 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $15,412 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 395079 to 372214.

Chicago's spending in 2017-18 was 15.6 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
