Unchallenged, Valencia will serve another term as Chicago clerk

Anna M. Valencia will serve another term as clerk for the City of Chicago after facing no challengers in Tuesday’s election.

With 2,028 of 2,069 precincts reporting, Valencia received 248,384 votes. Two challengers for the post had been ruled ineligible.

Chicago has 1,581,755 registered voters, but overall only 530,797 (33.56 percent) cast ballots on Tuesday, which was a near record low turnout. Of those, only 248,384 votes were cast in the city clerk's race. 

All results from Tuesday’s vote are unofficial until certified by the election board on March 13.
