James Cappleman and Marianne LaLonde will participate in a run-off election on April 2 to see who will serve as Ward 46 alderman after voters failed to elect a clear winner on Tuesday.
With 39 of 40 precincts reporting, Cappleman received 5,622 votes, or 44.06 percent of the overall vote. LeLonde came in second with 2,306 votes (18.07 percent), according to the Chicago Board of Elections.

Chicago has 1,581,755 registered voters, but only 530,797 (33.56 percent) cast ballots on Tuesday, which was a near record low turnout. There were a total of 12,760 votes cast in the Ward 46 alderman race.
All results from Tuesday’s vote are unofficial until certified by the election board on March 13.
