Chicago mayor candidate Rahm Emanuel returns $5,550 contribution from Republic Bank of Chicago

The campaign committee of Chicago mayor candidate Rahm Emanuel, Chicago for Rahm Emanuel, returned a $5,550 contribution from Republic Bank of Chicago on Jan. 15, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Candidates sometimes refuse or return contributions because they do not want their campaign to be affiliated with the donor. Republic Bank of Chicago has not made any other contributions to Rahm Emanuel in the past 12 months.
