Former state university employee Statsinger paid in $23K to pension fund, could collect $320K in retirement

Former state university employee Judith Statsinger, who retired in July 2017, saved $23,345 toward a pension over 6 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Statsinger would collect as much as $319,957, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Statsinger received $6,725 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Statsinger will have already received $28,136 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
