Former state university employee Bailot paid in $24K to pension fund, could collect $264K in retirement

Former state university employee Michele Bailot, who retired in July 2016, saved $24,088 toward a pension over 8 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Bailot would collect as much as $264,129, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Bailot received $5,551 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 5 years of retirement, Bailot will have already received $29,475 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
