Public Comment: Jeff Gahris from Clean Wheaton. Discussed how to get clean energy throughout the city of Wheaton and came up with an idea of promoting a Group Ride where we can tour homes in Wheaton that area already participating in the program.

Chair Report

Commission Budget Report – Recent expenditures totaled $350 (re-printing of the bicycle maps and a bar for our feather sign). Our current budget is down to $650.

Ongoing Business:

Bicycle Festival – 2019 – Explained that the Erica Bray (City Council Woman) is interested in helping us out at the Festival this year and Dan Dlhy will forward the information over to Nancy Allured for assignment of duties. The route and location of the event have been finalized. We are waiting to hear back from the Police department about the Bike Rodeo. Also, Nancy Allured has been working with Arin Thrower on publicizing the event through the City of Wheaton.

Bike Valet / Taste of Wheaton – Recapping the event. Approximately 55 people parked their bicycles with us this year and the numbers were down possibly due to the threat of rain.

History Ride – 2019 – Brief discussion regarding the fee that one of the speakers wanted for their participation. The commission voted not to extend a monetary fee as the budget doesn’t allow for it as well as then we would have to pay other volunteers at this and future events.

Other Topics / New Business:

May – Bike Month – Library Display – Brief discussion about the display at the library and we are looking to have that set up for the month of July. Rita Nathanson will be coordinating this with the library staff and the commission offered suggestions of the items that we should display. Some members provided items to be on display.

T-Shirts for Sale – Rita Nathanson reported the cost of the t-shirts for the commission members would be $14 a shirt and provided some options as far as the colors that are available. The commission members who are interested in purchasing a shirt for their own use provided sizes as well.

Bicycle Route Map of Wheaton – Laurel Salvador reported that the Bicycle Route Maps have been printed, provided the receipt to Dan Dlhy and passed around the finished items for review.

Way Finding Signage – Michelle Dunlap is working through a 40-page document on where the signs are, and which ones are correct and which ones need to be corrected.
