Cook County Board of Commissioners will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

PUBLIC TESTIMONY

Pursuant to Cook County Code of Ordinances, public testimony will be permitted at regular and special meetings of the Board. Duly authorized public speakers shall be called upon at this time to deliver testimony germane to a specific item(s) on the meeting agenda, and the testimony must not exceed three (3) minutes. The names of duly authorized speakers shall be published in the Post Board Action Agenda and Journal of Proceedings as prepared by the Clerk of the Board.

CONSENT CALENDAR

Pursuant to Cook County Code, the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners hereby transmits Consent Calendar Resolutions for your consideration. The Consent Calendar Resolutions shall be published in the Post Board Action Agenda and Journal of Proceedings as prepared by the Clerk of the Board.

Sponsored by: STANLEY MOORE and JOHN P. DALEY, Cook County Board of Commissioners PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE EFFORTS OF TIMOTHY NOONAN TO RESTORE THE MONUMENT DEDICATED TO THE MOTHERS OF FALLEN SOLIDERS IN WORLD WAR I

WHEREAS, Timothy Noonan is a native of the North Beverly neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Noonan graduated from Marist High School in 1981 and attended Marquette University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science; and

WHEREAS, for the past 22 years, Timothy Noonan has worked for various corporations such as Exelon, Arthur Andersen, EMC Documentation, Hewlett Packard, Sierra Systems, EMC Kazeon-Electronic Discovery, and The Sedona Conference providing knowledge and expertise in developing enterprise-wide solutions addressing matters of compliance, discovery, strategic records management, and cyber security from mobile devices to the cloud; and

WHEREAS, since 2012, Timothy Noonan has served as the Director of Information Governance for Autotech Corporation. In this role, Timothy has led digital forensic investigations by case planning, acquisition, examination, data analysis, presentation and disposition; and

WHEREAS, during a walk with his children, in the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Timothy Noonan discovered the abandoned monument dedicated to the mothers of fallen World War I soldiers. Timothy became inspired to take action, and shortly thereafter, founded The Chicago Council of Gold Star Mothers (CCGSM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration and rebuilding of the memorial located in the Dan Ryan Woods; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Noonan hosted a community meeting at Ridge Park in May 2017 to explore ways for the monument to be restored. Based on this meeting and continuous advocacy efforts, the Forest Preserves of Cook County hosted a decommissioning ceremony at the memorial in November 2017; and

WHEREAS, under Timothy Noonan’s leadership, CCGSM successfully restored the Gold Star Mothers monument. A rededication ceremony was hosted in November 2018, before Veteran’s Day, and the 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day. During the rededication ceremony, Timothy Noonan and CCGSM were recognized for its efforts to restore the site; and

WHEREAS, the Beverly Area Planning Association (BAPA) named Timothy Noonan the grand marshal of the BAPA’s Beverly/Morgan Park/Mt. Greenwood 2019 Memorial Day Parade. The honor of grand marshal was given to Timothy Noonan due to his tireless dedication in restoring the CCGSM in the Dan Ryan Woods; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the 5.2 million residents of Cook County, does hereby recognize Timothy Noonan for his leadership in restoring the mothers of fallen World War I soldiers memorial in the Forest Preserves of Cook County; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that an official copy of the same be tendered to Timothy Noonan in recognition of this honor.

PROPOSED RESOLUTION THANKING BRIDGEPORT BAKERY FOR 47 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE BRIDGEPORT NEIGHBORHOOD

WHEREAS in October of 2019, Bridgeport Bakery is closing after more than 47 years in business, and

WHEREAS Bridgeport Bakery, in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, was founded in a simple storefront located on 29th and Archer Avenue, and

WHEREAS from those humble beginnings, Bridgeport Bakery has flourished and grown into a venerable neighborhood institution that has served delicious baked products to countless customers over the years, and

WHEREAS Bridgeport Bakery is famous for its donuts, bacon buns, cookies and paczki which are always in great demand by residents and customers, and

WHEREAS over the years and throughout many changes in the neighborhood, Bridgeport Bakery has remained faithful to the vision and philosophy of outstanding customer service, and has not only succeeded as a commercial enterprise, but as a greatly valued and widely respected member of the community, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County does hereby offer its gratitude to owner Ron Pavelka and his family for all their many years of service at Bridgeport Bakery and offers its thanks to the many employees past and present, who have helped serve the many residents and customers at the Bridgeport Bakery, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the Official Proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of same be tendered to Bridgeport Bakery in commemoration of this occasion and in grateful acknowledgment of the important contributions to the local neighborhood by Bridgeport Bakery in the course of its many years in business.

PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING WOORI TAEKWONDO & HAPKIDO ACADEMY

WHEREAS, “Woori” means “You and Me” Woori Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy is a community of martial artists with the same goal, that of striving toward excellence in martial arts and in every aspect of our lives; and

WHEREAS, philanthropy holds a special place of importance in the Woori philosophy; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 16th, 2019, Woori Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy is sponsoring its 7th Annual fundraising event to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital entitled “Kick for the Cure”; and

WHEREAS, Woori Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy is a team of highly motivated and superbly trained individuals dedicated to the development of character and inner peace characterized by integrity and discipline; and

WHEREAS, Kwanpil Kim is the school’s Grand Master. Master Hyo Myeong Choi will be testing for her 5th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido. Grand Master Kwan Pil Kim, Master Basia Pudysz Allen, Master Hyo Myeong Choi, Master Asad Umrani, Master Hogyun Choi and Instructors will be participating in the 500 Board Breaking to support the cure for cancer. Woori students will also be participating in Low Belts and Black Belts; and

WHEREAS, all proceeds raised from the sale of “Kick for the Cure” event will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Cook County Board President and the Cook

County Board of Commissioners, do hereby commend the instructors and students of Woori Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy on its fundraising effort “Kick for the Cure” to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and a ceremonial copy of the same be presented to Woori Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy to commemorate this event.
