House Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Rogers Park) supports bipartisan legislation that would pave the way for fair mapping in Illinois.

Cassidy spoke during a press conference last Thursday that was attended by Republican and Democratic lawmakers as well as the leaders of several community organizations. She said she supports fair maps because there should not be districts that are considered "safe" for either party.

"I represent one of those 'safe' seats," Cassidy said. "I want to be held accountable to my voters and not the other way around."

Cassidy said she looked forward to working on the bipartisan effort to bring fair maps to Illinois.

"I am so grateful to so many members who have stated that they want to do what is right for their constituents," she said. "I am grateful to stand with people putting everything out there to do what is right."
