Village of Cherry Valley Board of Trustees met March 31.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

PRESIDENT JIM E. CLAEYSSEN CALLED THE EMERGENCY VILLAGE BOARD MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:03 PM AND LED THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

A roll call was taken by Village Clerk Kathy Trimble:

JIM ALSBURY PRESENT SALLY HOLLEMBEAK PRESENT

NANCY BELT PRESENT *JEFF O’HARA PRESENT

JEFF FUSTIN PRESENT DAVID SCHROEDER PRESENT

Also present: Attorney Roxanne Sosnowski, Police Chief Robert Swank, and *Village Clerk Kathy Trimble.

*Trustee O’Hara and Village Clerk Kathy Trimble will be video conferencing this evening.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA:

Trustee Schroeder moved to adopt the Agenda. Trustee Belt seconded. A roll call vote was taken:

JEFF FUSTIN AYE DAVID SCHROEDER AYE

Motion carried 6-0.

APPROVAL OF THE VILLAGE BOARD MINUTES: None were approved at this meeting. PUBLIC COMMENT:

1. Paul Seitz, Police Sergeant with the Cherry Valley Police Department, addressed the Village Board regarding his employment at the Village and his response to employment related matters.

2. Tom Hogshead, former Police Sergeant with the Cherry Valley Police Department, spoke to the Village Board regarding Paul Seitz as a Police Officer with the Cherry Valley Police Department.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

President Claeyssen entertained a motion that the Village Board go into Executive Session for the following:

(5 ILCS 120/2)(c)(1) (Personnel Matters) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.

Trustee Belt moved that the Village Board go into Executive Session at 7:23 PM. Trustee Schroeder seconded. A roll call vote was taken:

NANCY BELT AYE JEFF O’HARA AYE

JEFF FUSTIN AYE DAVID SCHROEDER AYE

Motion carried 6-0.

Village Clerk Kathy Trimble was excused from the meeting. Attorney Roxanne Sosnowski will be taking the Executive Session Minutes.

The Village Board was in Executive Session from 7:23 PM to 8:12 PM.

RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION:

Village Clerk Kathy Trimble was called back into open session. Roll call was taken:

1. Trustee Belt moved that the Village Board approve Resolution 2020-07; addressing the employment status of a Village Employee. Trustee Schroeder seconded.

Attorney Sosnowski read into the record Resolution 2020-07 (a copy of which will be attached to the minutes).

A roll call vote was taken:

Motion carried with 5” AYES” and 2 “NAYS”.

BOARD COMMENTS: None.

ADJOURNMENT: Trustee Hollembeak made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Trustee Belt. A roll call vote was taken:
