Illinois' former congressional candidate Jerry Evans issued an Inauguration Day statement, showing his appreciation for former President Donald Trump, while wishing President Joe Biden all the best.

In his statement, Evans thanked Trump for his hard work in the past four years, which he claims was not appreciated enough.

“I want to thank President Donald Trump for his tremendous service to our country. His tireless defense of unborn children, religious freedom, small businesses, our free economy, victims of human-trafficking, immigration law, and much more, was incredibly needed and timely for America. I am thankful for his defense of Israel, his peace through strength foreign policy against evil regimes, his historic mideast peace accords between Israel and multiple neighbors, his fight against corruption in career politicians and government officials, his supreme court nominations, as well as his leadership to bring jobs back to the U.S. and move the economy forward for all—especially with minorities and women.

“President Trump, while many did not appreciate your leadership over the last four years, or understand all of the facts around your actions and accomplishments, you were a blessing to America, and you will be missed. Thank you,” he said.

Evans went on to congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, wishing them to lead justly.

“I would like to wish President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris all of the best. I will be praying for them every day while they are in office, and that they lead America with righteousness, justice, and compassion—especially towards the unborn and victims of human-trafficking,” read the statement.
