Taxes on property owned by State Rep. Curtis Tarver (D-Chicago) have not been paid since 2017, according to county records.
The property used to be Homewood Kitchen & Bath and was then a brewery and taproom.
The property is owned by an LLC, 1731 VD LLC, that is run by Tarver, according to the Illinois secretary of state.
For 2018 and 2019, Tarver owes $69,715. The first half of 2020’s taxes were due March 2, meaning Tarver also owes $19,484 for 2020.
Tarver made news in 2019 after he was arrested in Chicago for carrying a weapon without a valid concealed carry license.
In that incident, Tarver was charged with a misdemeanor for the invalid license.
Tarver was also cited for the faulty headlight on his vehicle. He was issued an I-bond, which is a no-cash bond, and released.
The law states that "a loaded or unloaded handgun carried on or about a person completely or mostly concealed from view of the public or on or about a person within a vehicle,” under the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act.
Under the law, a licensee who’s had his concealed carry license revoked has to surrender his weapon to local law enforcement.
