Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden (49th) accused Mayor Lori Lightfoot of "putting up roadblocks" to the progressive agenda.

Hadden told the Chicago Sun-Times the mayor is "going her own way" when it comes to civilian police review issues, search warrant reform, police spending, and an elected school board.

Hadden vowed to "forge ahead" with a warrant reform ordinance she has supported in the wake of the police raid involving Anjanette Young. Hadden maintains her plan is more substantial than reforms outlined by Lightfoot and Police Superintendent David Brown in an executive order.

"We need to come up with our own solutions," Hadden said, the Sun-Times reported. "We need to do it with the community. We need to win back the trust that all of Chicago's government has lost over many decades."

Hadden said Lightfoot's story had changed several times concerning Young, the victim of a wrongfully executed police raid on her home. At one point, Lightfoot said she knew nothing about the November 2019 incident until a string of internal emails raised questions.

"The mayor has lost some credibility on this issue. So, why would people trust her executive order?" Hadden said.
