About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 008th District (Chicago Lawn) of recent Armed Robbery incidents. In each incident, the victim(s) show up to the location to purchase a cellphone which has been advertised for sale on a social media site. Upon arrival, one male offender approached the victim(s) and displayed a handgun before taking their money and/or cellphones. These incidents have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

• 2500 block of West 63rd St. on Dec 10, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.

• 2500 block of West 63rd St. on Dec 15, 2022 at 9:00 P.M.

• 2500 block of West 62nd St. on Dec 16, 2022 at 11:10 P.M.

• 2500 block of West 62nd St. on Dec 17, 2022 at 8:44 P.M.

About the offenders:

The offender is described as African-American male 20-25 y.o., wearing dark clothing.

What you can do:

• Always be aware of your surroundings

• Report suspicious activity immediately

• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm

• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)

• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police

• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information

• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
