About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 002nd District (Wentworth) of recent robbery related incidents. In these incidents, one to two male offenders approached a female victim that was looking at her iPhone screen. The offenders grabbed the iPhone from the victim's hand and fled the scene on foot or inside a waiting vehicle.

The offenders' vehicle was described as a blue Nissan Sentra. These robberies have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

  •  5100 block of south Cornell Ave. on February 3, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.
  •  1600 block of east Hyde Park Blvd. on February 17, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.
  •  1700 block of east 55th St. on February 21, 2023 at 5:45 P.M.
  •  5400 block of south Hyde Park Blvd. on February 27, 2023 at 1:50 P.M.
  •  5400 block of south Shore Dr. on February 28, 2023 at 8:45 A.M.
About the offenders:

  •  The offenders are described as males between 20-25 years of age, wearing black masks.
What you can do:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  •  Report suspicious activity immediately
  •  If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
  •  Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
  •  Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
  •  If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
  •  Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
