Cougars Men’s Tennis Lose at Northern Kentucky 5-2 | Chicago State University Cougars Men's Basketball
Match was the Horizon League Opener for both Teams
The Chicago State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon at the Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky in the Horizon League opener for both teams. The Norse swept doubles to earn the team point but the Cougars countered with singles wins at No. 1 (Pedro Alvarez) and 2 (Hugo Hidalgo Vega) to go up 2-1 but Northern Kentucky swept the remaining matches for the 5-2 win.
"Doubles was tough," head coach Jack Barton said. "We got down early and couldn't fight back. We started out in singles very well. We won the first set on four of the six courts and put ourselves in a great position. Hugo and Pedro show great composure on the court and kept us in the match with their wins. Our freshmen at 4, 5 and 6 just couldn't keep control. They had to many errors that we talked time and time again. Attitude is also important and when you can't control your attitude, it doesn't help. They'll be accountable and we will be better tomorrow."
Compete results listed below.
The men will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at IUPUI in another Horizon road match.
