CHICAGO- The Chicago Department of Procurement Services (DPS) will host its 10th Annual Procurement Symposium on Thursday, July 13, 2023. The event will take place at Malcolm X College (1900 W. Jackson Blvd.) from 9 AM to 5 PM.

The Procurement Symposium is a key outreach initiative in the City's efforts to diversify its vendor pool and provide equitable access to contracting opportunities for small; minority-owned; veteran-owned; women-owned; disadvantaged firms, and firms owned or operated by people with disabilities.

The full-day event will feature workshops, resources, and panel discussions with the City of Chicago and its Sister Agencies. State, Federal, and anchor organization partners will also participate in the event and provide guidance and resources.

“My administration is committed to the growth of vital industries and supporting economic opportunities for everyone,” said Mayor Johnson. "The Procurement Symposium is a great way for vendors to increase their capacity to build a thriving business, expand equity in contracting opportunities, and positively impact our communities."

Additional event highlights include:

  • Keynote Address from Laforce Baker, V.P. Community Impact, World Business Chicago
  • More than 80 exhibitor tables staffed by the City of Chicago and Assist Agencies, Sister Agencies, and not-for-profit organizations
  • Business-To-Business Matchmaking Sessions with prime contractors/sub-contractors/business partners
  • Three (3) Leaders Roundtable discussions
  • Two (2) City Department Spotlight Presentations
  • An inspiring Leaders Master Class

"The Procurement Symposium includes an impactful group of industry leaders and subject matter experts who share our values of equity and inclusion,” said Chief Procurement Officer Aileen Velazquez. "We are proud to partner with agencies across all sectors and service areas in support of the vendor community and our great city."

The robust agenda allows attendees to customize their Procurement Symposium experience to fit their needs, regardless of the size of their business or the industries they serve. Individuals who wish to attend should register at chicago.gov/2023Symposium.
