City of Prospect Heights Fire/Police Commission met Sept. 27.

CALL TO ORDER - At 4:02 PM, Chairman Hoffman called to order the Fire Police Commission of the City of Prospect Heights at City Hall, 8 N Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070
ROLL CALL - Deputy Clerk Schultheis called roll. A quorum was present
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT - Chairman Hoffman, Commissioner Riebman
ABSENT - Commissioner Fiorito - with previous notification
OTHER OFFICIALS PRESENT - Police Chief Caponigro, Deputy Police Chief Derman (until 4:33 PM), Deputy Clerk Schultheis. In the audience - Police Administrative Director Gentry until 4:33 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES -
A. Approval of the Regular August 30, 2023 Meeting Minutes - Chairman Hoffman moved to approve the Regular August 30, 2023 Meeting Minutes as presented; seconded by Commissioner Riebman.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES - Riebman, Hoffman
NAYS - None
ABSENT - Fiorito
Motion carried 20; one absent.
CLOSED SESSION – Discussion regarding new process to test and recruit officers -National Testing Network - No action will be taken in the Executive Session - At 4:03 PM, Chairman Hoffman moved to go into Executive Session to discuss a possible contract with National Network and the testing changes that may incur; seconded by Commissioner Riebman.

AYES - Hoffman, Riebman
NAYS - None
ABSENT - Fiorito
Motion carried 2-0; one absent.
RETURN TO OPEN SESSION – At 4:33 PM, the Commission returned to open session. A quorum was present.
Chairman Hoffman directed Police Chief Caponigro continue to explore National Testing Network as a new and more effective way to process, test and recruit officers; seconded by Commissioner Riebman.

NEW BUSINESS - Chief Caponigro said that the new full-time lateral officer, Richard Herdus had been sworn in on Friday, September 22, 2023.
- It was noted that Jarred Musson is at the Cook County scored the highest on the exams, and is Class Commander.
- the Police Department is applying for grant money for body cameras. He said that once the body cameras become the law, there will be a need for someone to be responsible for FOIA redactions
- each redaction might require redaction software ad hours of evaluation.

ADJOURNMENT - At $:40 PM, Chairman Hoffman moved to Adjourn; seconded by Commissioner Riebman.
VOICE VOTE: All Ayes, No Nays.
