SNL's Michael Che mocks Chicago's Gaza Ceasefire Resolution: ‘Gaza called for ceasefire in Chicago’

Saturday Night Live's Michael Che recently used satire to comment on the Chicago City Council's decision, which narrowly passed a non-binding resolution. The resolution urged the Biden Administration to call for a cease-fire in Gaza.

"In return, Gaza called for a ceasefire in Chicago," Che, the co-host of SNL's "Weekend Update" skit, quipped.

According to Wirepoints, there were 617 homicides in Chicago in 2023, marking a 13% decline from 2022 when there were 709 homicides. Despite this decrease, Chicago still held the unfortunate distinction of having the highest total number of homicides among all major American cities in 2023.
