Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez condemns complaints that he is not helping his community because he does not support giving more funding to illegal immigrants.
“If you think it is my job to hold a bake sale for the asylum seekers, you are the problem,” Lopez said in a post on X. “If you have remained silent concerning the $1.2 Billion spent across multiple levels of government with human beings still living in filth and hungry, you are the problem.”
“If you have allowed Chicago to violate multiple laws & Executive Orders to protect the migrant patronage operation, you are the problem,” he said. “If your only recourse is to maintain the narrative while ignoring the pitfalls of failure, you are the problem.”
Alderman Lopez represents Chicago’s 15th ward. He was first elected to the position in 2015, winning his reelection campaigns in both 2019 and 2023. He was also a candidate in the 2018 Illinois State Representative election, but withdrew before election day.
Lopez is a native of Chicago. He attended St. Laurence High School in Burbank, and earned a bachelor’s from the University of Illinois at Chicago
