A leading Chicago labor union hosted a pro-Iran rally featuring activist calls for "Death to America."
The Saturday rally, led by the "U.S. Palestinian Community Network," took place in Local 786 headquarters at 300 S. Ashland in Chicago's West Town neighborhood.
It was reported by Olivia Reingold of The Free Press.
"I'm going to teach you a chant in persian that you can use if you ever encounter those Zionist freaks. Now I don’t drink margaritas, but we all know what a margarita is. We all know what a bar is. So you’re going to say ‘Marg bar. Marg bar Israel,” an unnamed activist training the group said. “It has two meanings, depending upon who is asking. It can mean ‘death to’ or ‘down with’”
“Can we get a marg bar America? Yes we can! Marg bar America!,” he said.
The Free Press reported that the meeting included "about 300 anti-war activists" who were meeting to "hear organizers from all over the country describe their plans to disrupt the Democratic National Convention this August."
Teamsters Local 786 has 1,326 members, mostly in the construction industry across the Chicagoland area. It's president is Eddie Rizzo, Vice President Frank Brawner-Woolridge, Secretary-Treasurer Bryant Smith and Recording Secretary Brandon Snow.
