Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met June 5

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Tori Schroeder called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Village Clerk Kathy Trimble took a Roll Call:

CHAIRMAN: TORI SCHROEDER PRESENT KAYLA JABOREK ABSENT

MEMBERS: DINA BRANDT PRESENT SUE SMETANA PRESENT

DAN JAROCKI PRESENT KAYLA SPENCER PRESENT

JUDY PRISBY PRESENT

Others Present: Trustee Brandi Pearse, Sergeant Jesse Pearse, Village President David Schroeder, Village Administrator Jim Claeyssen, and Village Clerk Kathy Trimble.

ADOPT THE AGENDA:

Tori Schroeder moved to adopt the agenda. Dina Brandt seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES:

Tori Schroeder moved to approve the minutes from the May 1, 2024 Meeting. Dina Brandt seconded.

All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: No Report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Fun Run/Walk – Administrator Claeyssen stated that 84 people participated in Fun/Run Walk this year and 74 people took shirts. The discussion was had regarding ordering additional youth sizes in the t-shirts next year since some kids did not receive shirts this year and possibly a different color of shirts.

2. Art on Fire/National Night Out – Sergeant Jesse Pearse passed out a flyer and registration form for this year’s event. Only 1 registration has been received as of today. Fire Hydrants can be painted in any subdivision within the Cherry Valley water system.

Sparky Prisby will once again be the MC for the National Night Out Annual Kickball Game.

Officers will be going to area businesses for sponsorship and donations of prizes. Several businesses like 815 Dental would like to be part of the community and events.

3. Street Dance – The budget for the Street dance is $2,700.00. Discussion was had regarding the giveaways for the Street Dance.

• Dina will go to Menards and see about a Flat top/Blackstone grill and a fire pit.

• We will be giving away 2 Bricks for the Armed Forces Memorial at a cost of $300.00.

• Judy will purchase the $200.00 in gift cards for the giveaways.

• The Band, Random AF is $1,00.000.

President Schroeder is still in the process of securing the pies from Schnucks. The consensus was to get 20 pies and have a sign-up sheet to participate in the pie eating contest. The contest will take place during the intermission of the band and we will do the water race earlier in the evening.

More discussion will take place at the next meeting. 

4. 4th of July – Tori Schroeder moved to request $500.00 for the 4th of July Parade. Dan Jarocki seconded. A Roll Call Vote was taken:

Motion carried with 6 “AYES” and 1 “ABSENT”

Tori will talk to Cattle & Cream for Ice-Cream Coupons, she will be picking up the candy. DQ Coupons will once again be given out for the bike winners.

Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam will be talked about at the next meeting on June 26, 2024.

5. Citizen of the Year – The Citizen of the Year Celebration will be held on July 2, 2024 at the Village Board Meeting. Administration staff has ordered the shirt and plaques for this event, invited our past recipients and will order the refreshments. Recreation Board is responsible for the gifts and we will need someone to help with the setup before the meeting.

6. Rockford Rivets Family Night – To date 45 Vouchers have been distributed out of 75. It was the consensus of the committee that anyone that is a water customer qualifies to receive vouchers for the Rivets game on June 23, 2024. Judy Prisby, Sue Smetana and Dina Brandt will meet at 12:45PM to man the table before the Rivets game to exchange the vouchers for tickets.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Next Recreation Board Meeting will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 6:00PM.

ADJOURNMENT: Tori Schroeder moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:35 PM. Dan Jarocki seconded.

All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.
