Two Chicago Fire FC players called up for national team duty

Chicago Fire FC announced today that two of its players have been called to represent their respective national teams during the FIFA international match window in September. Forward Georgios Koutsias will join the Greece U-21 National Team, while winger Ariel Lassiter will play for the Costa Rica National Team.

The Greece U-21 National Team is placed in Group G of UEFA Euro U-21 qualifying, alongside Andorra, Belarus, Croatia, the Faroe Islands, and Portugal. Currently second in the group with 14 points, Koutsias and his team will travel to face the Faroe Islands at Djupumyru Stadium in Klaksvik on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Lassiter and Costa Rica will begin their Concacaf Nations League campaign by hosting Guadeloupe at Estadio Nacional in San Jose on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. CT. They will then travel to face Guatemala at Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City on Monday, Sept. 9 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

Meanwhile, Chicago Fire FC will continue its three-game homestand against D.C. United on Saturday, Sept. 7 at SeatGeek Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and locally in Spanish on WRTO 1200 AM and in English on 890 WLS-AM.
