National Voter Registration Day celebrated with multiple events across Chicago

Today marks National Voter Registration Day in Chicago, offering residents the opportunity to verify their voter registration status and register for the first time or update their information.

Residents with an Illinois driver's license or state ID can register online through the Illinois State Board of Elections website. In-person registration is available today at several locations:

- 10:00 am - 3:00 pm: Truman College at 1145 W Wilson Avenue

- 10:00 am - 4:00 pm: Daley Plaza at 50 W. Washington Street

- 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm: Faith Community of St. Sabina Community & Technology Center at 7811 S. Racine Avenue

- 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community Offices at 311 W. 23rd Street

- 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm: Metropolitan Family Services at 2100 S. Morgan Street

Alternatively, residents can download a form, fill it out, print, sign, and mail it to the Chicago Board of Elections office located at 69 W. Washington St., Chicago, IL, 60602.

The Illinois Voter Registration Form is available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Korean, and Tagalog.

To qualify for voter registration in Illinois:

- You must be a U.S. citizen.

- Be at least 17 years old on or before March 19, 2024 (Primary Election) and turn 18 on or before November 5, 2024 (General Election). Sixteen-year-olds may pre-register online but will have their application held until they reach voting age.

- Reside in your precinct for at least thirty days before the election.

- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

- Not be serving time in prison/jail for a conviction; however, returning citizens who meet all other requirements are eligible to register and vote.

For those needing to update their signature on voter registration records, forms are available in multiple languages. Residents can also visit the Chicago Board of Elections office with two forms of ID to receive assistance from staff.

After processing the voter registration form, the Election Board will mail a new voter card to registrants.
