Pam Bondi, the United States Attorney General, announced that the Department of Justice has directed Facebook to remove a group page targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Chicago. In a post on X, Bondi said that violence against ICE has been driven by online applications and social media campaigns.

"Following outreach from The Justice Department, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago," said Bondi. "The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns. Putting ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement."

According to DHS.gov, cartels and Mexican gangs have offered bounties for surveilling, kidnapping, or assassinating ICE personnel. The reported bounty tiers start at $2,000 for doxxing agents and their families, $5,000–$10,000 for kidnappings and assaults on rank-and-file immigration officers, and up to $50,000 for the assassination of high-ranking immigration officials.

On September 24, 2025, an assailant fired from a rooftop at an ICE field office in Dallas, targeting a transportation van and the building. One detainee died immediately; another succumbed to injuries later. The shooter was identified as Joshua Jahn, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities found an unused cartridge with "ANTI-ICE" inscribed on it.

According to ABC News and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a September 2025 investigation confirmed that gangs reportedly associated with the Latin Kings have been using "spotters" (armed lookouts) and radio communication to relay immigration agents' movements in Chicago. This activity facilitates ambushes and surveillance.

Bondi is the 87th United States Attorney General, having been sworn in on February 5, 2025. She had previously worked in the first Donald Trump administration in the Office of the White House Counsel.
