Chicago City Council approves multiple measures including tax incentives and housing developments

Various measures were introduced to and approved by the Chicago City Council on September 18, 2024. The following press releases detail these actions:

Revised sign guidelines have been proposed to support downtown business vitality. The Ramova Theater has been named a city landmark following its renovation. A property tax incentive was approved for a new supermarket in Ashburn.

The council also approved the sale and transfer ordinance for Karibuni Place, a permanent supportive housing development. Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago Department of Housing announced the first developments to receive new bond proceeds.

Additionally, an ordinance for the transfer of property in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood was approved. The Chicago Department of Housing announced major funding and development plans for Sacred Apartments.
