The Chicago Red Stars, a prominent women's soccer club in Chicago, have announced a rebranding initiative. The team will now be known as the Chicago Stars Football Club. This marks the first significant change to the club's brand in nearly two decades.

Karen Leetzow, president of Chicago Stars FC, stated, "As the stewards of this club, Laura Ricketts, the ownership group and the leadership team believe it is time to evolve our identity as a symbol of this new chapter." She emphasized their intention to honor past legacies while forging a new path for the club.

The original name was inspired by the four stars on the Chicago city flag. While there was a minor update to their crest in 2017, it retained key elements from that flag. The new logo continues to incorporate iconic symbols of Chicago, including a central red star representing players past and present.

Additional design elements include nods to local landmarks such as theater marquees and Wrigley Field. The crest also features blues that symbolize the city's landscape meeting Lake Michigan.

To promote this rebranding effort across Chicago, 25 crests have been placed around the city. Fans who identify all locations can win season tickets for 2025. More details are available on social media platforms X and Instagram.

In conjunction with these changes, limited-edition apparel featuring the new branding will be released at an upcoming match against Kansas City Current at SeatGeek Stadium.

Chicago Stars FC will retain its current name and logo through this season before transitioning fully next year. They expressed gratitude towards creative agencies Rabe X Birch and Ona Creative for their roles in developing and launching the new crest design.
