A new community garden is set to be established in Uptown, located along the 4800 block of North Ravenswood Avenue. This initiative is backed by $303,000 from the Open Space Impact Fee (OSIF) funding, which was approved by the City Council.

The planned garden will span 0.9 acres and run parallel to a Metra rail line. It will be developed and managed in collaboration with Friends of Winnslie Parkway and the NeighborSpace land trust.

To make room for this project, approximately 20 parking spaces on Ravenswood Avenue will be removed.

The OSIF program is designed to use fees collected from residential construction projects to fund open space improvements. These improvements are intended to counterbalance the effects of new residents on community parks and similar resources.
