The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has released an update on the ongoing resurfacing work on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, affecting traffic between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue. Temporary full closures of all lanes in active work zones are scheduled to start the afternoon of Sunday, September 15th. The project is expected to be completed by late October.

According to CDOT's schedule for the week beginning September 15th:

- On Sunday, September 15th, from 3:00 p.m., all southbound lanes will be closed between Irving Park Road and Belmont Avenue. This includes closing all entrance and exit ramps in this section. Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open for detours. Lanes will reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

- On Monday, September 16th, at 7:00 p.m., southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Road and Fullerton Avenue with all ramps open. At 9:00 p.m., a full closure of southbound lanes from Irving Park Road to Fullerton Avenue will occur, including all entrance and exit ramps. Traffic will detour via Inner Lake Shore Drive, with lanes reopening by 6:00 a.m.

- On Tuesday, September 17th, starting at 7:00 p.m., one lane reduction will occur between Belmont Avenue and Fullerton Avenue with all ramps open. A complete closure starts at 9:00 p.m., affecting all lanes and ramps in this area. Southbound vehicles must exit at Belmont Avenue and detour through Sheridan Road and Cannon Drive to Fullerton Avenue. All lanes reopen by 6:00 a.m.

- On Wednesday, September 18th, from 7:00 p.m., one lane reduction occurs between Fullerton Avenue and LaSalle Drive with ramps open. At 9:00 p.m., there is a full closure in this section including all entrance and exit ramps. Detours are via Stockton Drive to LaSalle Drive with reopening at 6:00 a.m.

- On Thursday, September 19th, similar measures as Wednesday take place with full closure starting at 9:00 p.m., reopening by Friday morning at 6:00 a.m.

CDOT advises motorists to plan ahead due to these changes and allow extra travel time. Drivers should pay attention to flaggers, obey speed limits within construction zones, and stay alert for workers and equipment.
