The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced temporary road closures near Union Station. These closures are scheduled for the weekend of May 9–12 to facilitate a concrete bridge deck pour, which is part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Canal Street viaduct.
The closures will commence on Friday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. and will continue until early Monday morning, May 12. The affected streets include:
- Canal Street from Van Buren to Monroe
- Jackson Boulevard from Clinton to Wacker Drive
- Adams Street from Clinton to Wacker Drive
Signed detours will be in place during this period. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Access to Union Station remains available through the main entrance at 255 South Clinton Street.
After the weekend, Canal Street between Adams and Jackson will stay closed for continued viaduct rehabilitation work. More information about the project can be found at cdotcanalprojects.com.
