Dr. Shikha Jain has been honored with the 2024 Physician Leader of the Year Award by the Illinois State Medical Society. This accolade is presented annually to an Illinois physician who demonstrates exceptional dedication in leadership, education, and public service. Dr. Jain received this recognition on April 7.
As a hematologist and oncologist at the University of Illinois Cancer Center, Dr. Jain is also a tenured associate professor at the UIC College of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology. Her medical expertise includes treating gastrointestinal cancers such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors. Within UI Health, she holds roles as GI Oncology IPU Lead and Associate Director of Oncology Communication and Digital Innovation.
Outside her work at UI Health, Dr. Jain contributes to various organizations including IMPACT and Women in Medicine as an executive member. She serves as a consulting medical editor for Healio’s Women in Oncology and hosts the podcast “Oncology Overdrive.”
The Illinois State Medical Society was founded in 1840 as a nonprofit organization comprising physicians, medical graduates in residency or fellowship programs, and medical students. It aims to enhance medical practice across Illinois.
