The Chicago Hounds have announced the signing of Mitch Short, an Australian scrumhalf with experience in Super Rugby. Short, aged 29, has spent the past two seasons playing in France for Beziers in the Pro D2 league. His addition to the team brings four years of Super Rugby experience to the Hounds.

Short hails from Sydney and is a product of Scots College. He first gained attention representing the Australian Schools team in 2013 before moving on to play for Randwick. In 2015, he joined the New South Wales Eagles, competing in the now-defunct National Rugby Championship.

Between 2015 and 2017, Short played for both Randwick and the Eagles. His performances led to a contract with Western Force ahead of their 2017 Super Rugby season. During his debut season, he appeared in six matches while also playing for Randwick and NSW Eagles.

After his stint with Western Force, Short signed with the Waratahs where he debuted in round three and concluded his first season with five caps, including one try and two starts. Notably, during this time at Waratahs, he played alongside current Hounds flanker Maclean Jones.

In subsequent seasons, Short earned nine more caps before seeking new opportunities abroad with Racing 92 in France's Top 14 league. After seven appearances there, he moved to Beziers where he accumulated 34 caps over two seasons.

As fans look forward to the Hounds' home opener against Utah Warriors on February 23rd as part of the Major League Rugby (MLR) schedule released last week, they are offered a chance to lock in their season ticket prices for life—a deal ensuring no future price increases.
