Chicago Fire FC has announced the acquisition of defender Jack Elliott as a free agent. Elliott is contracted with the team until the end of the 2025 season, with an option for 2026.
Elliott previously played eight seasons with the Philadelphia Union, contributing to their journey to the 2022 MLS Cup Final and securing the 2020 Supporters’ Shield. "Jack’s decision to join the Fire as a free agent marks an important step in our efforts to build a highly competitive squad for next season," stated Chicago Fire FC Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. He added that Elliott's signing enhances their team due to his MLS experience, technical skills, and leadership qualities.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Chicago Fire FC, Elliott said, "I am genuinely excited for this next chapter at the Chicago Fire. I believe in the vision this organization has for this coming year and the Club’s future as a whole."
The 29-year-old defender made 270 appearances across all competitions with Philadelphia Union, including 223 regular season games. He scored ten goals and provided nine assists during regular seasons while adding three playoff goals in postseason appearances. Notably, he scored two goals in the 2022 MLS Cup Final against Los Angeles FC.
Originally from London, England, Elliott was drafted by Philadelphia Union in 2017 after playing collegiate soccer at West Virginia University. During his college career, he appeared in 68 matches and earned several accolades including being named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team.
Chicago Fire FC looks forward to integrating Elliott into their squad as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
