Chicago Fire FC drafts three players in MLS SuperDraft 2025

Chicago Fire FC has added three new players to its roster during the MLS SuperDraft 2025. The club selected Dean Boltz, Travis Smith Jr., and Geni Kanyane.

Dean Boltz, chosen third overall, is an 18-year-old forward from Palatine, Illinois. He recently completed his first collegiate season with the Wisconsin Badgers where he scored ten goals and provided four assists. Boltz received several accolades including Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was part of the All-Big Ten Second Team.

Travis Smith Jr., picked 33rd overall, played as a defender at Wake Forest University for two seasons. The Louisville native made 33 appearances and contributed significantly in his sophomore year by scoring a game-winning goal against Syracuse University.

Geni Kanyane was selected 63rd overall. At 23 years old, Kanyane has extensive experience with the University of Dayton as a defender. Internationally, he has represented South Africa's U-20 Men’s National Team.
