Chicago Fire FC has signed Dylan Borso, a Chicago native and midfielder, to a Homegrown Player contract. The agreement extends through the 2027 season with options for 2028 and 2029.
"Dylan’s journey is a great example of the development pathway that exists for talented young players at the Club," stated Gregg Berhalter, Director of Football and Head Coach. "From excelling in our Academy to gaining valuable professional experience with Chicago Fire II, Dylan has shown impressive determination and growth. After a standout freshman season at Wake Forest, we’re excited to sign him to a Homegrown Player deal and help him continue his development and reach his goals."
Borso is now the 25th Homegrown Player in the club's history and joins as the 11th player since January 2020. Currently, five Homegrown Players are under contract with Chicago Fire's First Team.
"It’s a dream come true to sign with the Chicago Fire," said Borso. "I would like to thank Coach Berhalter and the staff for having confidence in me, and my dad for all his support along the way. I would also like to thank all of the coaches and support staff at the Club who have helped me grow on and off the field over the past eight years. I’m ready to give my best and bring 100 percent effort on and off the field every day. I’m a competitive guy and I can’t wait to get started playing for this city."
Borso joined Chicago Fire Academy in 2017, progressing through various age levels up to U-19s, as well as playing for Chicago Fire II in MLS NEXT Pro. During two seasons with Chicago Fire II, he made nine appearances (four starts) scoring one goal against Sporting Kansas City II in September 2023.
In college soccer during 2024 at Wake Forest University, Borso played all matches (24), starting eleven times while scoring four goals alongside four assists—leading his team in assists.
