Chicago Fire FC and the U.S. Soccer Federation have announced that Brian Gutiérrez, a Homegrown Player from Chicago Fire FC, has been called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team for the annual January Camp. The training camp will commence on January 7 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The USMNT will start its 2025 schedule with a match against Venezuela, who were quarterfinalists in the 2024 Copa America. This game is scheduled for January 18 at Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, with kickoff at 2 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max, and Peacock, with Spanish-language audio available through Fútbol de Primera radio.
Following this match, the team will travel to Orlando for a friendly against Costa Rica on January 22 at Inter&Co Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and will also be shown live on TNT, truTV, Universo, Max, and Peacock with Spanish-language commentary by Fútbol de Primera radio.
This marks Gutiérrez's first call-up to the senior national team after having represented various youth levels of the U.S. Men’s Youth National Teams from U-16 through U-23. Gutiérrez joined Chicago Fire as one of five Homegrown Players promoted from their academy in 2020 and signed his first professional contract at age 16.
Since joining Chicago Fire FC in 2020, Gutiérrez has participated in 120 matches (80 starts) and became only the second Homegrown Player in club history to appear in over 100 matches by 2024. He was named to the MLS 22 Under 22 class for two consecutive years and ranked fourth both times.
In the previous season, Gutiérrez scored six goals—a career-high—and recorded nine goal contributions overall (six goals and three assists) across 32 appearances (26 starts). He tied Harry Shipp's record for most goals by a Homegrown Player in club history after scoring his tenth career goal.
The Chicago Fire's regular season opener for 2025 is set against Columbus Crew on February 22 at Lower.com Field at 6:30 p.m. CT. They will host D.C. United on March 1 at Soldier Field starting at 7:30 p.m. CT.
Tickets for the upcoming season are now available starting at $29 through Ticketmaster or by contacting their hotline.
