Chicago Fire FC has confirmed the transfer of midfielder Federico Navarro to Club Atlético Rosario Central, a team in Argentina's first division. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
This transfer opens a U22 initiative slot on Chicago Fire's senior roster. Additionally, Chicago will keep a percentage of any future transfer fee that Rosario Central might receive for Navarro. Further details of the agreement were not shared due to club policy.
“We’d like to thank Fede for his service and contributions to the Club,” stated Gregg Berhalter, Director of Football and Head Coach at Chicago Fire FC. “This move gives Fede the opportunity to return to his family and home country. This transfer is in the best interest of both the player and the Club, and we wish Fede and his family all the best for the future.”
Navarro joined Chicago Fire from Club Atlético Talleres in Argentina on August 6, 2021. During his time with Chicago, he made 74 appearances, starting in 60 games over four seasons. He was recognized as the Club’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
Before joining Chicago Fire, Navarro spent his early professional years playing in Argentina. He debuted in 2018 and accumulated 52 appearances with Talleres across various competitions. Internationally, he has played for Argentina's U-19 National Team, making four starts during the South American Games held in Bolivia in 2018.
