Jan Schakowsky, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 9th district since 1999, has shared a series of tweets on various topics ranging from education to labor rights and Black History Month. Schakowsky, who replaced Sidney R. Yates in Congress and previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives, continues to engage with key issues through legislative efforts and public statements.

On January 30, 2025, Schakowsky announced her introduction of a bill aimed at providing students with mentorship opportunities. She emphasized the positive impact mentors have on students’ academic performance and future career stability. In her tweet, she stated: "Students who have mentors perform better in school, are more likely to go to college, and have more stable jobs as adults."

A day later, on January 31, 2025, Schakowsky addressed actions taken by former President Donald Trump regarding the National Labor Relations Board. She accused Trump of firing a board member illegally and criticized his stance on workers' rights and unions. Her statement read: "Donald Trump illegally fired a member of the National Labor Relations Board."

On February 1, 2025, Schakowsky took to Twitter to mark the beginning of Black History Month by acknowledging influential Black leaders who contributed significantly to American history. She urged for unity in celebrating these contributions: "Happy Black History Month!"
