Mike Quigley, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 5th district, has recently expressed his views on various national issues through a series of tweets. Quigley, who succeeded Rahm Emanuel in 2009, has been vocal about his opposition to certain policies and figures.

On February 11, 2025, Quigley criticized former President Donald Trump for what he termed as "illegal attacks on federal spending." He stated that these actions are detrimental to research efforts for diseases such as cancer and diabetes. He further accused Trump and Elon Musk of prioritizing tax breaks for billionaires over public health needs. "Trump's illegal attacks on federal spending are already hurting efforts to study diseases like cancer and diabetes. Instead, Trump, Musk, and their minions want to give billionaires tax breaks. I won't stand for it."

Later the same day, Quigley addressed comments made by Elon Musk regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). In his tweet from February 11, 2025, he warned that Musk's intentions to dismantle the CFPB would negatively impact working-class families who rely on the agency for protection against financial exploitation. He emphasized that Democrats would resist such moves. "This weekend, the richest man in the world @elonmusk reminded us that he is going to kill the @CFPB and hurt the millions of working-class families who depend on the agency to protect them from abusive big banks and predatory lenders. Democrats won’t stand for it."

In another tweet dated February 11, 2025, Quigley referenced Trump's aspirations for a Nobel Peace Prize. He suggested that maintaining peace in the Middle East could be an opportunity for Trump to achieve this goal while cautioning against yielding to extremist tendencies. He directed readers to his op-ed discussing this topic further."Trump says he wants to win a Nobel Peace Prize. Using our leverage to keep the peace in the Middle East is his chance."
